Due to high river levels and heavy current, the Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce Jeep Parade, Business Duck Race, and Duck Derby have been postponed.
According to the the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, ongoing flood recovery operations, elevated lake levels, and continued water releases made it impossible to support modifications to dam releases for these events. Managing floodwaters and reducing downstream flood risk must remain the top priority for public safety.
These postponed activities have been rescheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026.
All activity times will remain the same — only the date has changed.
Postponed activity schedule:
Jeep Parade lineup: 12:00 p.m.
Business Duck Race: 1:30 p.m.
Duck Derby: 2:00 p.m.
If you have already purchased Duck Derby tickets, your tickets will still be valid for the new date.
Please note that our other July 4th activities will continue as usual:
• Ozark Market Day will still take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. below the Dam.
• All Fireworks Over the Water activities above the Dam will also continue as scheduled from 4:00 p.m. until after the fireworks.
Please continue to watch our Facebook page and website for updates.
The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce sincerely appreciate the community’s understanding, flexibility, and continued support during this challenging situation. The Fourth of July is right around the corner and readers should be aware that things are changing with this year’s event.
As previously reported, the Hermitage Lions Club, longtime sponsors of the annual Ozark Market Day festivities, and the Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce have come to an agreement to move the popular shopping extravaganza from the center of Hermitage, held on the Hickory County Courthouse lawn for 50 years, to the Outlet Park area below Pomme de Terre Dam. It is believed this will provide for more space, attract more vendors, and tie it in with all the other Fourth of July events already at the Dam. This year the event will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 4 and will retain all the popular attractions as before.
In addition to Ozark Market Day, which will include food trucks, a host of vendors providing unique homemade goods, children’s games, and music, Fourth of July at Pomme de Terre Dam will include a Morning Cruise In Car Show, a Jeep Parade, the annual Duck Derby races, and fireworks over Lake Pomme de Terre. The morning cruise in is being hosted by the Hermitage Lions Club and will feature a collection of antique and classic cars on display. For the first time, there will be a Fourth of July parade. The evening will conclude as it always does, with a grand fireworks display over Lake Pomme de Terre, sponsored by the Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce. This event includes the whole community gathering around the Army Corps of Engineers Office at Lake Pomme de Terre and enjoying food trucks and live music until it’s time for the fireworks to start at dusk. The celebration will be from 4-8 p.m.
The Pomme de Terre Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 65th year in 2026.
